Woodstock, Ont. The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS® is proud to announce that they will be supporting the Habitat for Humanity build taking place in Tillsonburg, Ontario.
On April 5, 2023, the WITAAR directors approved a proposal to support the Habitat for Humanity Heartlands build, which will see REALTOR® members volunteering their time on May 2nd and May 4th to help at the construction site. WITAAR will also be making a $5,000.00 contribution to the charity to help fund the build. Participating volunteers are also encouraged to fundraise on an individually to further support this build and future builds to come.
“On December 1, 2022, Oxford County was proud to attend the official Habitat for Humanity ground-breaking ceremony, in the town of Tillsonburg. This sparked the interest from our new amalgamated association to have the opportunity to get involved and have a chance to come together as a team to make a real difference in the communities that our REALTORS® serve,” said President Anthony Montanaro.
WITAAR recognizes the many barriers to home ownership and supports the efforts of Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario’s to breakdown these barriers in support of local families finding security in owning a home. A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family, offering better and affordable living conditions that can lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability and financial flexibility to make forward-looking choices.
Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario since 1993 has built 113 homes for families in London, Oxford, Middlesex, Elgin, Stratford-Perth, and Brant-Norfolk. This is the first Habitat build to take place in the town of Tillsonburg. “In May of our REALTORS® will be putting on their safety shoes and hard helmets to join together in these team build days. All volunteers will have to complete health & safety training and will be guided by the professional construction team on site to put their muscle and sweat into helping build this home for the mom and daughter that were selected to be the recipient of the build.” said President Anthony Montanaro. “WITAAR and its members are strong advocates that REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations play an important role in community activism and philanthropic initiatives across Ontario”.
