Woodstock, Ont.  REALTOR® volunteers from the Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS® put their muscles to work on May 2nd and May 4th.

On April 5, 2023, the WITAAR directors approved to support the Tillsonburg Habitat Build by donating $5,000.00 to support the current build and future builds in the region. To further support the build 20 REALTORS® volunteered their time and labour in the construction of the new home.

“On December 1, 2022, Oxford County was proud to attend the official Habitat for Humanity ground-breaking ceremony, in the town of Tillsonburg. This sparked the interest from our new amalgamated association to have the opportunity to get involved and have a chance to come together as a team to make a real difference in the communities that our REALTORS® serve,” said President Anthony Montanaro.

WITAAR recognizes the many barriers to home ownership and supports the efforts of Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario’s to breakdown these barriers in support of local families finding security in owning a home. A Habitat home is a stabilizing force for a family, offering better and affordable living conditions that can lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability and financial flexibility to make forward-looking choices.

Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario since 1993 has built 113 homes for families in London, Oxford, Middlesex, Elgin, Stratford-Perth, and Brant-Norfolk. This is the first Habitat build to take place in the town of Tillsonburg.

WITAAR Past President, Bryan Wiltshire, attended the site on May 2nd, to present WITAAR’s donation to Habitat for Humanity Heartlands alongside some of our REALTOR® Volunteers. “It is amazing to see what Habitat has been able to accomplish here for a local family in Tillsonburg and I am proud of the work our REALTOR® volunteers have contributed to the site. It is amazing what can be accomplished by community partners coming together and I am proud that WITAAR played a role in making homeownership a reality for a local family,” commented Past President Bryan Wiltshire. “WITAAR and its members are strong advocates that REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations play an important role in community activism and philanthropic initiatives across Ontario”.
