Woodstock, Ont. – On May 3, 2023, the Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS® hosted their 12th Annual REALTORS® Care Food Drive in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Sweaburg, Beachville, Embro and Innerkip and new routes added this year in Tillsonburg, for their respective Salvation Army food banks.
There was a total of 140 volunteers plus their families and friends, of which 91 were local REALTORS®, covering approximately 95 per cent of routes in all towns. “The weather was rainy but held out to do the pickup. I am very proud of our members and the support they give to this amazing event, which continues to be a remarkable success every year. We want our communities to know that your local REALTORS® are not just real estate representatives, but friends and neighbours who care about the communities in which they live,” commented WITAAR 2023 President, Anthony Montanaro. “I would also like to take the time to personally thank our REALTORS® Care Committee for all their hard work and dedication that they put towards creating such a successful and well received event every year.”
Current estimates for the amount of food received from this collection are 3,000 pounds of food in Tillsonburg, 3,500 pounds of food in Ingersoll and 25,000 pounds of food in Woodstock, totaling 31,500 pounds of food collected. “The generosity from our communities is amazing and it is expected that the food raised will help keep our local food bank’s shelves stocked up for many months to come. It has been 12 years since the inception of the REALTORS® Care Food Drive and it is estimated that over of 250,000 pounds of food has been collected at this event for our local food banks to date,” commented President Montanaro.
The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS® would like to take the time to thank all the volunteers who helped make this event great, the weather held off for the most part, and you all arrived with big smiles on your faces and your trunks full of food. Without your help and dedication, we would never have reached the level of success that was accomplished.
To the community members that donated food, diapers, etc., your generosity is very much appreciated! The Salvation Army is always overwhelmed and thankful each year. If you placed a donation out that was not picked up or want to contribute, please take your donation directly to your local Salvation Army.
